This privacy policy describes how Meerwaardetool processes personal data when you use the service at app.meerwaardetool.be. We respect your privacy and process your data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Data we collect
We collect three types of data: • Account data: your email address, name, and a unique identifier, received when you sign in (directly or via Google). • Content data: the transactions, positions, and settings you enter to perform your tax calculation. • Usage data: technical logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) collected for security, troubleshooting, and service improvement.
Why we use your data
We use your data only to: • calculate your capital gains tax and support your tax return; • secure your account and the service; • detect errors and abuse; • comply with our legal and tax obligations.
Third parties
You can sign in with an email address and password or with your Google account. When you use Google, our authentication service receives your email address, name, and a unique Google ID; we do not request access to your email, contacts, or any other Google data. Market data (closing prices, exchange rates) is fetched from specialised providers; no personal data is shared with them. Hosting runs on servers in the European Union. We do not sell your personal data.
Retention
We keep your financial data for the duration of your account, plus 30 days after a deletion request. Invoices are retained for 7 years per Belgian bookkeeping law. Technical logs are kept for shorter periods.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, and port your personal data, as well as the right to object to processing. You can delete your account from the settings or submit a request via bert@meerwaardetool.be. You also have the right to file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (www.gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be).
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The most recent version is always available on this page, with an updated date at the top.
