About us

Who is behind MeerwaardeTool

MeerwaardeTool is a Belgian calculator for the capital gains tax. Here you can read who builds it, what the calculation rests on and what happens to your data.

Who we are

MeerwaardeTool is an initiative of ID Holding, a Belgian software company specialising in fintech applications.

ID Holding is based in Wijnegem and registered in the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (KBO) under number BE0690.712.650.

Why this tool

Since 1 January 2026, Belgium taxes the capital gains you realise on financial assets. A Belgian broker can withhold the tax for you, but if you invest through a foreign broker you have to keep track yourself of what you sell, at what purchase price, and how much of the annual exemption you have already used.

MeerwaardeTool does that arithmetic for you. You import your broker's export (DEGIRO, Saxo Bank, MEXEM or Bolero) and the tool calculates your realised capital gains and what is left of your exemption.

What the calculation rests on

Every rule on the From law to figure page cites the statutory article or circular it rests on.

Not every source carries the same weight. We rank them in tiers, and when sources contradict each other, the higher tier prevails.

  • Tier 1

Statute, royal decree, circular and the FPS Finance

  • Tier 2–3

Government statements, tax firms and academic work

  • Tier 4–5

    Financial press and forums

What we never do

Three things have no place in MeerwaardeTool, not now and not later.

  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • We place no affiliate links: no broker pays us to be recommended.
  • We give no tax advice: MeerwaardeTool calculates, a tax adviser advises.
